South Korea mourns the loss of veteran actor Choi Jung-woo, who passed away on May 27 at the age of 69. His agency, BLA Entertainment, confirmed the news, stating, “The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.” It was noted, however, that Choi had been battling panic disorder and depression in recent years.

Choi Jung-woo’s Life Before Passing Away

Choi remained active in the entertainment industry up until his passing. He appeared on shows like MBN’s Dongchimi and KBS’s AM Plaza, often opening up about his life. In one memorable broadcast last October, he candidly revealed that he had been married three times.

“My first wife registered our marriage without my knowledge,” he said. His second marriage, arranged by his parents, also ended in divorce, during which he gave up all his assets.

Speaking of his current marriage, he humorously added, “I’m under the thumb of my wife, who’s 11 years younger than me.”

In another emotional moment, Choi reflected on a dark chapter of his life, describing a time when a business failure led to aphasia and a period of isolation in the mountains.
